Hopkins District Library Board Meeting Minutes

March 19, 2019 at 7pm

Call to Order -   Karon Dunifin @7:02 pm

Roll Call - Present -  Karon Dunifin, Barb Wrobleski, Amy Germain, Elyshia Hoekstra, Morgan Coon, Zak Smit

   Absent -  Sandy Morris, Mimi Gabriel, Eric Alberda

Approval of Agenda -  Motion made to approve by Barb Wrobleski, Seconded by Morgan Coon. All ayes

Approval of Minutes -  Motion made by Karon Dunifin, Seconded by Amy Germain. All Ayes

Treasurer’s Report - Financial Reports - Motion made by Morgan Coon, Seconded by Karon Dunifin. All Ayes

Correspondence - none

Public Comment - none

Director’s Report  - See Pages (7-8)

Programs –  Just started new programs, March is reading month. April 1 name will be drawn for book give away

Statistics -  see pages 9 and 10. Books dropped slightly. Ancestry is down to zero.

Meetings, workshops, etc -  Lakeland March 14. Strategic planning this weekend March 22 and 23.

Building Items -

Library Closings –  2/8, 2/12 and 2/13 and 2/25 - All closing due to weather and road conditions.

Volunteers -  Megan is still helping out.

Lakeland, State other library news - automatic renewals. KDL uses this, possible for our system. We are going to use this. Renews 2 times unless there is a hold on the book. Will cut down on fines. Other Libraries have noticed 10 to 30 percent in decreased fines.

Old Business --

1. Weather Closing Policy (Pages 9,10) - in policies manual. We will leave policy as is. Staff is to first call Elyshia in emergencies and Karon Dunifin secondly. Will need Eric Alberda to get back to us on fire protocol.
2. Strategic Plan
1. Bathroom Tile Quotes - 1. Floating Vinyl floor with shoe moulding, and backsplash around sink. 445.30 2. Dan Weick ceramic tile. No quote for price. Motion made by Barb Wrobleski to accept Scholma Floors and Installations price and move forward with flooring. Seconded by Morgan Coon. All ayes.
2. Storage Shed - hold until next meeting

New Business –

1. Chairs - the exact chairs no longer available. Closest match 125.00 at wal -mart and 134.00 from Amazon. Open box like new options also available. Motion made by Karon Dunifin to buy 10 new chairs taking money out of savings at wal mart. We will see how many like new we can get first. Seconded by Morgan Coon. All ayes.
