October 13th Minutes

Hopkins District Library Board Meeting

October 13, 2015

Call to Order – Karon Dunifin, Vice-President at 7:00 pm.

Roll Call Present: Tom Bailey, Natalie Bazan, Karon Dunifin, Lynn Francis, Traci Rhoades, Barb Wrobleski

Absent: Suzanne Antvelink, Mimi Gabriel, Chris Navis

Approval of Agenda – Lynn made a motion, seconded by Traci

Approval of Minutes –Barb moved to approve the minutes with amendment, Tom seconded.

Treasurers Report – Motion by Lynn to approve the treasurer’s report and seconded by Tom.

Correspondence – none

Public Comment – none

Director’s Report as follows:

Programs: Ongoing: Book club. Upcoming: See newsletter.

Publicity: Up to 552 likes on Facebook, planning additional advertising on Facebook, Allegan County Community Foundation quarterly news is out, advertisement is still up at the Regent Theater, Aug-October newsletter, work has begun on the Nov-Dec newsletter.

Meetings, workshops, etc: Advisory and Board meeting for LLC. The national conference for Outstanding Small and Rural Libraries was held in Arkansas and only about 500 participants. Natalie felt that our Michigan conference is much more beneficial.

Building Issues: none

Budget Issues: none

Library Closings: Upcoming holidays.

Volunteers: There will be a trip for the volunteers to a pasta making class in the near future.

Lakeland, State other library news – New website

Patron comments and suggestions: Donations for the library and for the library cat, continued book suggestions, dvd suggestions and programming suggestions.

Other –

Old Business – none

New Business – It is time to complete our Executive Director’s evaluation. Completed paper or computer form needs to be done by November 1st.

Natalie informed us that the current State Aid forms have been completed and submitted electronically.

An amendment to grant reimbursement for unused PTO time in the staffs December pay was submitted. Karon made a motion to accept the amendment and Tom seconded. All ayes.

Adjournment – Traci made a motion to adjourn at 7:40 p.m. and Lynn seconded.
